  6. On another note, now that I am almost done with University (finally, lol) i was wondering how you went about learning Chinese, and what you would recommend for someone that is looking to learn it.

    I figure its about time i get a hobby, and i figure it would be good to know more than one language, same time it would allow me to read the light novels i’m interested in and can’t read as they were either dropped or only done as a teaser project

      2. Though i suppose if we are doing technicalities, the ones I am interested in are web novels, but meh, he gets the idea either way, but yes its Chinese i am asking about.

    2. I don’t know that my style of picking up Chinese would help anyone, since I’ve never taken any formal classes, unfortunately. I will say that learning languages is incredibly time-consuming, and is honestly more about dogged persistence than talent. Probably every anime fan ever has “considered” learning Japanese. That a very scant few actually do shows how hard it is. It’s like a New Years Resolution, really.

      But if you want to learn, in my opinion, essentially it comes down to first developing a foundation (with some intro books, a class, a website, etc.) and then using it as often as possible while having those who are fluent in the language, preferably natives, to correct your mistakes. In the meantime, you’ll also have to be okay with feeling like an idiot because of your relative incompetence with the language.
